Open Dance Classes

Summer 2026 Classes

All classes are free, and unless otherwise specified, open to all ages and abilities. Come try something new, practice your craft and connect with the dance loving community.

July 8

Adult Ballet

6:30 - 7:30PM

This class will be on Monday, July 6

Take your ballet skills to the next level and learn from a professional dancer from the Festival.

Primary Ballet

9 - 10AM

Young dancers age 5-8 enjoy a creative movement ballet class appropriate for all levels.

Tap

1 - 2PM

Learn the basics of tap dance and get a feel for the importance of rhythm.

Irish Step 

1:45 - 2:30PM

Boys & Girls Club members get to learn the traditional rhythms of Irish Step while exploring how to incorporate their own style. 

Advanced Ballet

9 - 10:15AM 

Take your ballet skills to the next level and learn from a professional dancer from the Festival.

Beginner Ballet

10 - 11AM

All ages 8+ join in a class that starts with ballet basics for a great workout and introduction to ballet.

Street Dance

1 - 1:45PM

Boys & Girls Club members learn Memphis Jookin' and elements of street dance.

July 9

Fitness Class

9:30 - 10:30AM

A fitness class for all ages and levels. Learn the strength & conditioning exercises that keep the dancers strong and in performance-shape.

Modern

12:15 - 1:15PM

A modern dance style class led by our multifaceted Festival artist.​​

Injury Prevention

2:45 - 3:45PM

Class open for all ages to learn strategies aimed at protecting common areas of injury. ​

Irish Step

11AM - 12PM

Gain knowledge of traditional Irish Step, mixed with contemporary styles and new rhythms.

Street Dance

1:30 - 2:30PM

Break down the elements of Memphis Jookin', a street dance style focused on footwork and long movements.

Social Dance Night

6 - 8PM

Community swing event at NISDA. Enjoy food trucks, live music & a class in swing dance!

Performance Workshop

The performance workshop is a unique opportunity for young dancers ages 6 - 18 to work with our festival artists and perform on stage with professional dancers during the benefit performance on July 11th.

Participants will receive:

  • TWO FREE tickets to the benefit performance (one for the student and one for a guardian)

  • 2026 Festival T-Shirt

  • Unforgettable experience working with professionals and peers collaboratively

Performance Workshop Schedule

*Attendance at each practice is essential as dancers prepare to perform for a sold-out audience. All practices will be held at the Nantucket High School.
